Family Field Trip to Siloam Springs Metal

I don’t know about you, but I LOVED this field trip this afternoon.  First off, and I didnt get a picture  – as we drive into the parking lot many of our little buddies were already there waiting on us in the back of a pick up truck.  It brought back a lot of good memories of being a kid and thinking it was magical to ride in the back of a truck.  We all walked over together and Kassidy showed us around Siloam Springs Metal and Recycling Cooperation .  I think the adults enjoyed the experience as much as the kids did.

The first thing we did was pile all our cans and metal we brought into the hopper to see how much it weighed. We are not keeping the money from our metal. We are letting it be donated to the ” Ability Tree ” downtown . Ability Tree is a non profit business downtown that helps families that have children with disabilities.

As we walked around the yard we saw amazing sites of metal piled sky high.

We saw ” the claw” reach in and pull up cars and twist them through the air like the are matchbox cars.

We saw men cutting metal in half with torches.

We watched them pile our cans into a machine that crunched it together and made them into a cube.

Amazing fun times with all my families.  Almost everyone was there  !

Thanks parents and Siloam Metal and Recycling for making this the most fun and interesting field trip ever ! The nice people even gave us little bags with boxes of crayons and coloring sheets.  YAY! for small town love !
