First Day Jitters

>

We had a great first day today getting to know each other and exploring all our cool play spaces. Below you will find many pictures but only a small fraction of what I took.

We read ” Llama Llama Misses Momma.” ” The latest installment of Anna Dewdney’s popular Llama Llama series of books is titled Llama Llama Misses Mama, and tells the story of little Llama’s first day of school. Llama Llama is reluctant to leave his mama on the first day of school, and tries bravely at first, but after quavering a bit, begins to cry. The friendly teacher and a group of brand new friends coax Llama into joining the school fun, just in time for little Llama to share his new territory with his Mama.” I think many of the kids really knew how Llama felt today! Can you imagine being three or four and being left in a room with people that you have no clue who they are or what they plan to do? For a couple of our new students, throw in the combination of coming from a spanish speaking home and struggling to even know what ” that new lady that is not my mommy” is saying. It makes me work even harder to make sure everyone is feeling loved and getting comfortable with our group.

I am so thankful for Beth coming to help us out today. She will be here all week. Randy worked hard to play with the kids and I think they already know which one of us is the goofy one… I dont know what I would do without either of them.

Have I said this lately–? I love my job. I know as a mom is is hard to let go and let someone else share your child’s heart and take their hand, but you did it!

Thanks for trusting us with you precious children. See you in the morning.

Wow, that was fast. You guys sure have been busy. I loved the safari outing, as I am sure the kids did too.
