Voice Levels

We have friends with really BIG voices. There are a a lot of reasons that children have loud voices. But they absolutely can learn to regulate them. The way that we do that here is talk about levels one through five voices.

0 no voice

1 whisper

2. Normal

3 when talking to the whole group

4- getting someone’s attention across the yard

5- emergency.

We talk about the fact that inside should only be levels on or two unless something is not safe. I don’t care what levels they use outside. That’s why it’s helpful for us to go outside first thing in the morning so they can get all of those big voices they need to use out in the world.

We practiced with all of the level sounds like by singing, twinkle twinkle little star.

Does your child have a problem at home with being too loud? I suggest you jump on our bandwagon and begin using voice levels at home too ! Talk to your child about what levels of loudness are appropriate inside the house.

If we all do this after a few reminders, things will seem less chaotic. 😵‍💫

The first few weeks are spent learning how to be part of a group. This one not only speaks to our group energy but the social graces your child has anywhere outside the home.
