Today we begin our exploration of pumpkins. I really wanted to wait until Monday but they’ve been rolling around in my trunk for a few days.
Of course the kids wanted to immediately cut the pumpkin. We talked about it. “But if we go straight to cutting, sometimes we miss the things on the outside that we should notice.”
So today we all formed a tight little circle and talked about what we saw. We noted that it was orange and had stripes and it was imperfect. We also noticed that it sounded hollow.
We also compared a pumpkin to an apple they both have stems. They are both round in shape and have seeds on the inside… At least we think the pumpkin does.
We decided that a pumpkin as much heavier than an apple.
If we immediately cut the pumpkin, we would’ve missed so many amazing things
