I take a lot of heat from some of my colleagues about my stance on crafts for children. We sneak one in from time to time. But as a whole my pedagogy is firm that children learn best thought process art not product art
Process art means as a co learner I am paying more attention to “how” a child created art . Are they individual and creative ? Are the fine motor muscles better able to handle a small paint brush now than they were two months ago? Does the child have more patience and concentration that two months prior? What happens when we mix the colors ?
Today we painted pumpkins. This is a process art activity.
