There’s nothing like helping a child be successful!
Nayomi said “I can’t make this letter” pointing to the N.
“Would you like my help?” She nodded yes.
It’s still hard for her to do the letters in one complete motion so I showed her the shortcut by making two straight lines and connecting them from top to bottom. Some K teachers might argue and say that we absolutely should teach them the correct letter formation and technique from day one. I don’t care about all that mess. That’s honestly why children are not taught letter making until farther along in their development. I just want my kids to feel good about what they can do and honor where they are. BUT !! If they have interest and ask I will help.
After showing her she grabbed the marker and made a perfect N .
I was so proud. When she gets to kindergarten they can teach her correct letter formation. While she’s here I’m gonna make her feel like she can do anything… Especially make the first letter in her name .
