Today we went to see the international “Red Ball Project” in our own little town. Just getting there was an adventure through the wooded path but it’s the safest way for us to access down town.
Once downtown, there was no way to miss the huge red ball . A lot of preschools this time of year are studying apples. Apples are red. Indeed they are but that’s something that can be taught every time we serve apples so why reserve a whole unit teaching about something that’s literally part of our everyday life? Thinking outside the box adventures sometimes teaches the best lessons and foundational skills that we need to go to kindergarten. I dare say each of our kids knows what the color red is.
Adventures like this also give us opportunities to talk about road safety and stranger safety, and even neighborhood dog safety. And we can use expanded language, such as huge and gigantic.
The girls have been so much into playing beauty shop that I messaged a friend and asked if we stopped by her shop to do a walk-through – she said yes of course.

It will be interesting to watch as the girls continue to play if this changes their play or enhances it in anyway.
Oh, and we did a little sensory play with shaving cream today and wrote the first letter of our name.
