Today was a lovely day filled with laughter, creativity, and, most importantly, connection. With a smaller group, we had the chance to dive deep into our activities and make the most of our seven hours together.
One of my favorite parts of Wednesdays is dedicating time to cooking. Authentic cooking experiences are a hallmark of a high-quality preschool environment, and today we embraced that by making homemade Play-Doh! The children were hands-on, participating in pouring, mixing, and observing the magic as the colors transformed with the addition of food coloring. They felt the warmth of the Play-Doh fresh from the microwave, and for some, it became a calming activity. It’s moments like these that remind us how cooking can foster not just creativity but also precious memories—those reminiscent of time spent in the kitchen with family.
In a delightful twist, Lucy sparked the idea for a tea party! With leftover Fancy Nancy cookies and pink lemonade, we transformed our space into a charming little gathering. We adorned the table with flowers and lit a candle, creating a perfect setting for our group of little ladies to enjoy.
Additionally, I took the opportunity to conduct some assessments to determine if any of our children might need extra support, such as speech or occupational therapy. I chose to start with our younger ones this year since the older girls had their assessments done recently. Working with Alia and Ruby was a joy, and it provided me with a good baseline of where we are as we prepare for the school year.
We also did an “ experiment” with germs and germ lotion today.
I genuinely cherish the time we spend together and the bonds we are creating . Thank you for entrusting me with your precious children. I look forward to many more memorable days ahead!
