Today we completed one of our art pieces for the art show that was started more than a week ago.
The first step was designing the flower pot with squares pre- cut. Sure an extra step could be to let the children cut the squares but YOLO on this day. We were taking the easy route – which rarely happens here. I was more interested in creativity and patterns or sequencing.
Today we added hand drawn flowers and then finished the bouquet off with water colors.
We ended up with some really beautiful flowers – and each one is unique.
This type of activity is obviously creative but also it has math and fine motor skills practiced. The confidence that each child had as they looked at the piece of art they completed was heart warming. I love seeing children realize “ I can!”
