Today was an exciting day filled with play-based learning and exciting events at our home ! We celebrated Hazel’s fifth birthday with our traditional pancake breakfast, complete with whipped cream, toppings, and sprinkles.
One of the activities planned for the day was drawing a structure and recreating it. ( The opposite of last week)While the children were initially less enthusiastic about the design and construction process, we decided to try something new. I took on the activity myself, using new markers to entice their curiosity.
Although only a few children joined in, what fascinated me was their inclination towards dramatic play with blocks rather than the actual building itself. It was a reminder of the power of imaginative play in fostering creativity and self-expression.
The highlight of our week is the highly anticipated goat visit. The letter “G” had been marked on our calendar for the entire month. The children’s faces lit up with joy and anticipation as they met the adorable little creature.
It was a magical moment as the goat leaped and playfully chased the children, bringing smiles and laughter all around. We had recently asked Alexa what a goat sounded like, and hearing it in real life was truly wonderful. The encounter with the baby goat is what preschool dreams are made of.
Of course we followed up with a fairy tale about goats
