Adding Literacy to Blocks
This morning in family time we talked about the structures that we have built in the block area. Then our discussion moved into “ when we are in our car with our moms – How do we know that we’re at McDonald’s? How do we know we’re in Walmart?” Of course the common answer was signs.
I encouraged the children to add signage to their structures, so that we know what they are building

We had print on buildings
In the art room, they decided to make signage for race, including flags
Arkansas learning standings begin to know that print has meaning. I would say we mastered that.
It also encouraged more reading today. Win!
