How Important are Materials
Today we opened two Christmas gifts from Grahams great grandmother. ( Thank you !) Kids are generally excited about ANY new toy but teachers aren’t always equally excited.

It may just look like a little tool set to you but to me it’s a worksheet – 🤪. Let me explain myself. The “standards based” reason teachers use worksheets is for fine motor practice. This little toy provides tons of fun AND fine motor practice.
Look at those little fingers. Look at the position of the fingers. Perfect for pencil grasp. It’s a win win!
You see the same grasp with the new magnetic men that she bought us too.
Choosing materials (toys) is important. The materials become your co- teacher as well with a little curiosity and joy.
