Once in a while we introduce new foods that you might not serve at home. Did you know it may take 12-15 times to serve a “new food” before your child develops a taste for it? We should never force eating – everyone has a food they hate. What’s yours ? Mine is cauliflower or sushi. If someone said” you MUST eat it” I would probably throw up. Kids are no different
Today ( for the 2nd time) we had slow cooked great white northern beans. I immediately heard “ I don’t like it.” I gave them a while to eat their other food and possibly take a bite of beans. We had a few try bites! Then I said “I’ve got a slice candy for anyone that is brave enough to try the beans.” Everyone did. Is that best practice ? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Then I told the children the story of me eating great white northern beans when I was a child with ketchup. All but one child wanted to try it.
We had 6 out of 9 children eat almost all their beans ! Moral to this story is – ketchup ranks higher in the bribe zone then spice candy.
