What are manipulatives ? In early learning facilities they are tools that can help teach children concepts such as sorting and counting. It helps children to see the number instead of just recite it. It helps children to experience more and less.
In our classroom we have different types of manipulatives. In traditional classrooms you see the little colorful bears or the little cubes. In our classroom we have those also but we also have rocks and sticks and feathers.
Today was a busy day. We met outside and had a pancake picnic. It was lovely and no one cried.
The consequence of eating outside is sometimes children are distracted and will not finish eating. I had a few it hardly touched anything and were starving by lunch.
Lucy finally came! We have been talking about Lucy for two weeks and today was the day. She just visited today. Tomorrow she will come for the full day. Lucy was about about the glitter and the glue. Welcome Gambill’s to our preschool family .
We also cooked together for the first time today. I try to offer a cooking experience on Wednesdays. Cooking generates such rich conversations that include math and science.
And the bonus is we get to eat it when it’s cooked. Yummy. Can’t wait for snack.
