I have been inspired by a couple friends to start a gluing table. ( photo by Denita Dinger. You can find more of her amazing work with children here. https://www.facebook.com/Listen-to-the-Children-106183404800786/)
What is the benefit? First and foremost PURE JOY. As a teacher you realize for preschoolers gluing isn’t necessarily about anything other than GLUING – Sticking one thing to another thing.
The gluing table will also help the children with other skills –
Cognitive – What will I pick to glue ? Where will I glue it ? Will one thing stick to another ?
Social – Sharing the process with another.
Motor – sqqquuueeeze.
Creative – What can we make ? Can I recreate on this table what I see in my mind ?
Math – we are sure to see lots of natural sorting and sequencing.
Science – Are there objects that won’t stick with glue ?
There are so many. This is just a few. I will not be beside them doing a play by play and asking questions. I will be learning alongside – how they learn.
If you have things for gluing – please send.
I can’t wait to watch the progression. I’ll update another day.
