Identity Through Place
As soon as children can talk they start naming things around them and organizing them in their mind. We are going to begin to explore the concept of place and how children build connections with the places they live in.
We will begin to look at how the imaginary places play a role in children’s childhood. We will also look at how children perceive the concept of place ?( some of the children still don’t understand that I actually live in their school .)
One of the first activities were doing is looking at how a place can affect things. We will will plant beans and move them around to different places within our play rooms to see where they grow best.
Since we were celebrating BB today we met him choose the first home for our beans. He chose the hallway. Some of the littles are concerned there is no sunlight in the hallway.
Every couple of days we will check the plants to see if they are growing and decide whether we need to move them to another spot.
This will help the children realize that the places where we belong can influence who we are or what happens I know that seems like a really big idea for such a little minds but remember we’re just building a foundation. I will probably learn more about how they think than anything during this first investigation.
