We have done our last self portrait of the year. It’s always amazing to me how much progress is shown through this simple activity.
Children go through stages of drawing just like any other stages of development . Typically, children begin drawing self-portraits with scribbled lines before progressing to rounder more circular shapes. By the third stage, you will start to see some resemblance to the objects they are drawing.
In the fourth stage is children start to draw people with arms and feet connected to the head.
The drawings below are Josselines. Josseline is almost 5 and will be going into kindergarten. She has been at this two years. We can still see growth over this year.
You can see she ended with all the features. Head and body connected. There are legs, arms with fingers and even eye lashes.
