After my Facebook post “defending play” conversation yesterday I felt empowered to honor my kids today by letting them have extra outside time.
Isn’t it crazy that anyone would have to argue that 3-5 year olds should be allowed to play and enjoy their childhood instead of learn all the skills they will need in kindergarten BEFORE they actually get there?
Any who – Incase anyone wants to argue that your child will be behind in any way because we play all day –
We spent three hours outside but still :
Wrote our name
Did our heggerty “ work” which was: rhyming , switching phonemes , adding beginning sounds and deleting them, nursery rhymes, spotted ending sounds … wah.. need I go on?
Learning happens all day everywhere. If you are present you see it.
