Almost every early educator has a science shelf in their room. Quite honestly many of the things on that shelf rarely get moved or even looked at. Most times they are there to meet a standard on an environmental rating scale.
When you can make science real to children is where you see the rubber hit the road.
Today we experimented with food coloring and baking soda and vinegar.

Not only did we get to talk about colors but we talked about color combinations. We also got some great fine motor practice in that mimics a pencil grip.
Science happens every day naturally for all children. Right now the thing we’re observing is the air is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to fall off the trees.
