What Is Critical Thinking?
“Critical thinking happens when children draw on their existing knowledge and experience, as well as on their problem-solving skills, to do things like:
- Compare and contrast
- Explain why things happen
- Evaluate ideas and form opinions
- Understand the perspectives of others
- Predict what will happen in the future
- Think of creative solutions”.

Ok. So maybe I spoke too fast yesterday. Maybe I don’t hate playing games with children.

In reality 90% of the time it looks like this
Tiny hands everywhere
Tears
Knocked over pieces
And whose turn is it anyway ?
However it all becomes worth it when you see it spark critical thinking like this.

we played and it was t so horrible. The rules are a little different. See… if you make the game you make up the rules 🤷🏻♀️.
Later in the morning she even made a spinner for taking turns
I’m pretty impressed. That folks is the kind of creativity you get when a child is allowed to explore , create, has access to ample supplies and has been built up and told ” you can .” I dare say this would not happen if we sat at tables most of the day doing things like this.
