Sometimes I do feel a little guilty spending all day outside and not taking a look at our goal sheets or early learning standards. So I try to be intentional about bringing the inside to the outside. Theoretically, we can do almost anything outside that we can accomplish inside. ( That felt like a tongue twister. )
Today we spent a lot of time helping each other by cleaning the playground and moving some things around.
I just have a few changes I’m wanting to make and the children are quite capable of helping me and they did.Randy is making a few repairs and the children more helpful with that.
So, it makes sense that during family time on the porch we would read a book called “Helping.”
We talked about different ways we can help and Jude promptly told us about helping buckle his sister in today while his mom was getting to the car. Children get empowered when we allow them to do big things.
We also read “Jack and the Beanstalk ” . We talked about new vocabulary words that we found in the book and if we would actually like to eat a goose? And what exactly is a sixpence ? And do we believe in Giants? And is there such thing as a magic bean ?
After reading we did the age old activity of putting a lima bean in a plastic bag with a napkin
. We have them hanging on the grid outside so they can catch some sunlight and hopefully grow. We want to grow our own beanstalk and climb to the clouds. Jude says they taste like cotton candy . It was a pretty good day to be at Bright Beginnings Preschool
. The sun was shining and the wind was blowing the birds were chirping. We even had lunch outside.
