Today a big yellow bus arrived ( twice ) to deliver child development students from the high school. They have been visiting different types of child care facilities. I’m so glad they got to come.
For us it was a normal day.
Playdoh work with the pasta maker. So much happening here – cognitive skills ( trying to figure out how it works), gross motor work as they use their while arm to push the handle and dramatic play and language as they decide what the Playdoh “is” when it comes out of the maker.
Some of our friends were a little overwhelmed when our visitors came in. The calm down spot was demonstrated ( voluntarily.)
They were able to see how our children use real materials and I explained how we use those opportunities to teach.
It was a good day. I’m glad to be back. It’s not always easy to be a model school but it feels great to showcase what “right” should look , feel and sound like.
