Yesterday I read the story called “The Dot ” to the children. It’s a story about a child that felt like he was not an artist and he could not draw. Eventually with his teachers encouragement he made a dot on his paper. The teacher said it was wonderful and all he needed to do was sign his piece of art. He grew into a wonderful artist who’s art focused around dots and circles. He even held an art show. It’s a wonderful story about building confidence.
The children enjoyed the story so much yesterday that I asked Holly to revisit it today. As I scroll through the pictures I could see the evidence.
This is the way we scaffold children’s learning. We take one thing they enjoy and build on it. For this experience the children were not only exploring circles but also the important part of signing your name. ❤️
