This morning we took time to do a bit of our dial three assessments. Year end is coming up soon. End of year assessments are not required but I do them so we can gauge our success through the year. Obviously we tend to focus on things that are not necessarily on this dial three assessment but it still gives us a baseline. It also lets me know if there are things that we might need to focus more on .
Some of the things we did today with gross motor such as catching a beanbag or hopping up-and-down on your left and right foot.
. You would be surprised how difficult it is for some children to hop on their less dominant foot.
We also did some foundation skills like singing the ABCs or counting to 20. Many of our kiddos mess up at 13 or 14 and skip 15. I’m not sure why. They should be pretty accomplished at counting at least 16 because we do that a lot as we can or friends.
We also looked at body parts and that was fun.
Does your child know his birthday? Some of our kiddos absolutely knew their birthday and some knew what the theme of the birthday party was. 🤷🏻♀️.
You know how I feel about assessments so I don’t put a lot of stock in the results. As I am testing a child there are 6 other children that are performing a circus on the other side of the room and noise and distraction is an issue.
