Pumpkins and Acorns
If you follow me on social media you know that at 11:00 our day took a whirl with unexpected visitors but we did have a few good hours !
We have had these HUGE acorns for over a year and the children have hardly touched them. I took them out and placed several on the table . I started asking questions to the children around me. I wonder why they are so big ? I wonder why some have nuts and some just look like a hat ? I wonder what is inside. Then I just watched.
We pounded to get them open . If you watch closely this is about more than making noise and the process of thinking about what is inside. Look at that pincher grip.. the same one we use to hold a pencil with. We are making our fingers strong and ready to hold a pencil for writing .
We made imprints on the playdoh.
We weighed them .
We counted them .
We also checked out the condition of our jack-o -lantern that we set outside.
