As we come to the end of our year it is easy to pause and look around and see how much we have grown. This morning my Facebook post said ” a line for the outside calm down spot at 830 am. .” Though some days are more tough than others can I tell you what a victory that is for our preschool family. We had at least two friends that needed to calm themselves down and knew exactly how to do that this morning. That makes me smile so big. 🙂
Yesterday one of our friends came in the gate really upset with mom and I said ” I can hear you are struggling. Your face tells me you are frustrated. Do you need to go to our calm down spot ?” He said yes and off he went. As he left a friend or two tried to talk to him and he held up his hands and said ” Do not talk to me. I am mad.” Another friend came to me and said ” I am going to the calm down spot and check on him.” I suggested she give him a few more minutes and then joined him there talking to him You could see her helping him do the balloon from the other side of the yard.

Home should be an anchor, a port in a storm, a refuge, a happy place in which to dwell, a place where we are loved and where we can love. – Marvin J Ashton
