What is Recycling ?
Earth day is this Wednesday. I dont know that I have ever taken a full week to talk about our earth and how to take care of it . I feel it is becoming increasingly important to educate our children on ways to take care of our environment and leave the world a little better than we found it.
Today we talked about recycling . What is recycling ? We finally decided on the simple answer ” to reuse” something. We talked about what things can or cannot be reused and we looked at the recycle symbol on the bottom of a couple things to familiarize ourself with it.
We started an art project that has two steps – an earth. Today we painted plates blue . The made the assumption on their own that we were painting the earth . Tomorrow after they have dried I will show them a globe and what is water on it . We will add ” land” to our art project.
We made a spur of the moment decision to walk to the ground breaking ceremony for the new library. I felt it was important. I want this building to be important to them. It is theirs. We will probably watch the library being built as we have watched the house around the corner. How exciting to be part of history.
Mr. Randy was the front of the sandwich today and he did an excellent job.
