Eric Carle wrote many wonderful children’s books and ” The Very Hungry Caterpillar ” is always a favorite of the group.
Today we read the story and then retold it using a puppet and props.
We also drew caterpillars and butterflies.
In the book the caterpillar gets very hungry and eats a lot of food that eventually gives him a stomachache . For a literacy activity we talked about what we would eat if we got very hungry and then illustrated it.
We had a cool new caterpillar game that is a great fine motor tool. The kids have to place marbles on the caterpillars outstretched arms one at a time and it is moving. It is also making an irritating sound but that is besides the point ! 🙂
I tried a salt trat for writing today but it stressed me out. I was worried the kids would ingest the salt.
Today was a tough day. We had lots of hitting and meltdowns. They are all asleep so maybe they were worn out from the weekend ? I am hoping that was the problem. We are much too late into the school year to still have friends impulse hitting and screaming and yelling at teachers . This too shall pass and tomorrow will be better.
