Today is Friday. We made it through the first full week of school. Everyone is still breathing and only one child bled. That counts for something, right ?
I am sure you have noticed that we have gotten fewer and fewer pictures each day. That is because — sing it with me ! ” She works hard for the money
So hard for it, honey
She works hard for the money
So you better treat her right ”
We are working HARD teaching transition and social graces so we havent had as much time to all the pictures we have wanted. Things will get easier. It is normal this week for things to get progressively harder because the kids are exhausted. This too shall pass. 🙂
We did get circle time in again and some great music. Has your child been singing ” I Like Being a Kid ?”
We also talked about books today. We have already been using the terms ” front of the book,” ” back of the book ” and ” spine ” when we read our books but today we talked about ways to take care of our books and how we can read them by looking at pictures. We talked about turning the pages carefully and very slowly one at a time and always starting at the front. I also showed the kids how we can use our finger to track with the words across the page.
Do you read at home ? The best way to have a great reader as your child gets older is to teach him how to love a good story. Readers are made in the laps of parents. Set a goal to read atleast one story each night. When you open a page ask them to look at the picture and tell you what they think is going to happen Use your finger to track the words on the page. Being able to read is powerful.
