We are still having an excellent time considering we are all so new at this. But.. the honeymoon is over. We are seeing their little personalities emerge more each day. That isnt a bad thing it just means that we have to figure out how to appreciate each one and help them work in a group. Sharing doesnt come natural for everyone. Body control doesnt come natural for all. It is a process and that is the main reason we have preschool, to be able to teach these social manners within a safe, supervised area during natural play.
With that said, today we were in survival. Some days will be like that. We did have circle time. We did songs and read books. When I say survival, of course I mean Dallas, Randy and myself. We spent a lot of time putting out fires. Fires are little tiffs between new friends , helping those that dump toys remember it is their responsibility to pick them up , or just learning how things work in our room in general. I have heard the term is it like herding cats. Thats a good way to look at it. Each day will get more routine and we will be able to do a little more. I do have lesson plans made for next week that include quite a bit of structure , we will see if that happens.
What happens after the honeymoon ? Real life…. lets do it together.
