Nothing like an expected snow in MAY to change a preschool teachers lesson plans .
Since we got accumulated snow last night we HAD to go out in it and play. It was so much fun. The wind wasnt blowing so it wasnt really that bad. I enjoyed watching the kids excitement. Too soon we forget the joys of childhood.
Unexpected science lessons were going on outside also. Tiana started crying and I asked her what was wrong. Her reply was ” My hands are FREEZING!” I said ” Oh no, hurry and stick them in your pockets! ” She cried harder ” I cant ! ” I said I dont understand, why cant you. I see pockets on each side of your coat.” Her reply was ” But there is snow in there!” I said ” Oh no !!! How did you get the snow in your pocket?” Tiana, sadly said ” I put a snowball in there to save it until tomorrow…” 🙁
We read a book about a little boy a while back that did that and was sad when he woke up the next morning. We talked about the book we read and why the snowball wouldnt ” keep ” until the next day. We went in and warmed up her hands under warm water and Mr Randy had a great idea.
After warming up inside we made snow cream. Yummy.
We practiced our Circus program and let me tell you it is going to be SO CUTE!
We played with our farm materials for the last day. We sang our farm songs and we read farm books. We graphed our favorite farm animal.
Today is the last day of our farm unit . The rest of the school year ( two weeks ) will be circus themed !
