This morning I met the kids outside. There was a nice breeze blowing and it felt wonderful. As I sat out there waiting on the first child to arrive I thought ” how blessed am I !? I get to work in my home . I can dress all professional and put together or I can pull up my hair in a pony tail and be comfortable. I can sing and play all day and watch the kids smiles as they learn new things. I can water my flowers while the kids are playing and pet my dog. I have a great life. AND, I get paid to do this. This is how I raised my own kids, Addam and Danielle. Blessed…”
This slower paced time in the morning allows rich meaningful conversations that are so important before we start our day.
Then Scarlett arrived and reminded me why I do what I do. Our house is a home of acceptance. The kids can come all fruffied up in ribbons and bows or dressed like a magical ladybug.
As I watched Scarlett play this morning and I realized how uninhibited she is it brought tears to my eyes. I love that she can be an individual and stand proud of the choices she makes. Many days this year she has arrived in a tutu or other costume. I Immediately thought how soon she will be leaving me and our safe home. I pray that she gets a teacher that accepts all of her, her quirky fun creative whole child and doesn’t try to stifle her to fit a mold of who she thinks she should be. I pray that for all of our kids.
Now Im sad….
During table time today the older kids tried a weaving project. Some were successful and others were not . Either way, it is the trying that counts.
Danielle had a big mess out there. Kaitlyn came in proclaiming that Danielle has ” pink hair” and I knew something had went askew. 🙂
We read ” The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly ” and a teacher made book called ” Shoo Fly Shoo ” that was a positional word book.
William did a little patterning with the bugs today.
Reminder about the mulberry trees. There are fierce and falling all over the sidewalk. Randy blows them out and we wash the side walk and the toys but it is really difficult to keep up with it. PLEASE send your child in play clothes, the mulberries do stain. The kids poor little arms and legs have been covered and we have been using wipes to help clean up but baths will be a must every night. ( You did that anyway, right ?)
