Today was another wonderful day filled with creativity and laughter! One of the things I cherish about our family childcare home is the flexibility we have with our schedule. This morning, we decided to flip things around a bit. We started our day outside while it was still cool, even enjoying breakfast before the sun began to heat things up.
Today, I introduced the easel, which was a big hit! It’s important to remember that sometimes we expect our kids to know how to use new things right away. By introducing the easel and showing them how to use it, we set clear expectations, helping our children feel confident and successful in their artistic endeavors.
I was so impressed by the beautiful art pieces created! Engaging in easel work is not just about making pretty pictures; it’s a vital part of their development. Did you know that before our little ones can refine their fine motor skills to make letters, they first need to build strength and coordination in their larger muscles? Activities like painting on an easel allow them to develop their shoulder and elbow muscles, laying the foundation for writing skills later on.
As we moved inside to cool down, I couldn’t help but reflect on how sweet and spirited the girls are. Even though we are just a week and a half into this journey, it has been such a joy to watch them grow and learn together. If I had to describe these two weeks in one word, it would be “peace.”
