Once a month to make sure the children stay safe, we have to practice a fire drill. Today since we had new ones, I held a smoke alarm in my hand and talked about how loud it was going to be and then what we would do if it went off. I also reminded the children that I am their safekeeper and that most times when we hear that sound it’s going to be to practice, but either way I’m going to keep them safe.
Our routine is to immediately go to the door as soon as we hear the sound. I grab the children’s shoes in the basket and we head to the fence outside. We want to make sure all our children are there before going outside the door.
We only had one little with big emotions during the fire drill. But that is expected.
We also talked about our skin color today and how we are all unique. We made little paper doll type people that match our skin.
Oh, and let’s not forget we had a dance party with our new disco lights.
