🎨🧩 Today, we delved into the world of imagination and creativity with some simple cardboard pieces we stumbled upon during a church clean-out day. It was truly fascinating to witness how our young learners ingeniously figured out ways to make the pieces stand,
prop them against each other, and even use them in combination with other materials to build unique structures
QqTomorrow, we plan on introducing hot glue and, eventually, some paint to further fuel their imagination. The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to see what they create! 🎉🎨
💡 Another noteworthy moment occurred today, reminding us, as teachers, of an important lesson we already know: availability does not always equal accessibility. Throughout the year, there has been a gallon glass jar of shells in our science area, readily available for the children to explore. However, it wasn’t until today when we took them out and placed them in a basket that we truly saw engagement ignite. The children’s eyes lit up as they discovered shells shaped like unicorn horns, shells with smaller shells nestled inside, and shells of all shapes and sizes. By making the shells more accessible, we had the joy of listening to their stories and witnessing their awe as they stumbled upon unique pieces of nature. 🐚✨
🤔 Reflecting on this experience, we realize that placing the shells in a basket presented a new challenge for the children, as it was harder for them to see on top of the shelf. However, one little genius found a way to improvise and get a closer look.
This reminds us that teaching preschoolers is a constant process of reflection and adaptation. While children can learn in spite of us, the true magic happens when we pay close attention and make their learning experiences even more accessible and enjoyable. 🌈📚
