We were able to get our intended learning opportunities in today before I headed out to be at one of my grandkids grandparents day celebration.
The first thing we did was sort colored. beads. Traditional preschools might have bears and bowls for sorting or have children coloring and drawing lines. Our learning opportunities for sorting are more hands-on. The children were given beads. We talked about which color you might find on a tree. We decided we might even see some leaves that are light, pink or purple. The girls worked as a group.
Once the beads were sorted, we took them to the light table and begin making colorful fall tree creations. I love the way the glass beads look on the light table.
The girls were so proud of their creations. We were able to use language like more or less and talk about math. All of the children seem to instinctively know from a very young age what more means. If you think about it when they are young toddlers, it’s one of their favorite words … more… More I want more. Never do you hear a child say I want less. So the real learning in these types of opportunities when we’re talking about math is helping them to understand what the word less means. I would challenge you as a parent to include that word in your conversations.
We also added fall colors to the paint area today.
I know I say it often but I want you to know how much I enjoy spending time with these girls. I appreciate the fact and don’t take for granted that you trust me and that you love it as much when Britney is there filling in so that I can do early childhood solutions work or just be a grandma or a wife. Thank you for loving me this season.
If anything, I hope to I’m a good model for you. When you have grandbabies, make sure you’re the grandma that makes them know they’re loved and that you would do anything to be with them and support them.
